Recipe Cost Calculator turns package prices and recipe quantities into batch cost, unit cost, price targets, profit, margin, markup, and food-cost percentage.

A recipe result looks unexpected

  • Confirm each ingredient's package quantity, unit, price, and optional waste.
  • Mass and volume convert only when the ingredient has a positive density.
  • Confirm the recipe batch yield and each selling format's quantity from batch.
  • Open Other Costs to review packaging, labor, overhead, and transaction fees.
  • Percentage transaction fees are solved against selling price rather than added after the result.

Price targets

  • Manual mode uses the selling price saved on the selected format.
  • Margin, markup, and food-cost modes solve different formulas and should not be expected to return the same price.
  • A food-cost target below break-even uses the displayed break-even floor.
  • Results are estimates from entered values, not accounting, tax, legal, food-safety, or business advice.

Production plan and exports

  • Add a saved recipe from its result or the Production Plan tab.
  • Enter a positive batch quantity for each plan line.
  • On-hand values are temporary planning inputs and do not deplete inventory.
  • PDF and CSV exports use current saved values. Once shared, the destination controls the exported file.

Recovery and purchases

Automatic private iCloud recovery is checked when available. It does not continuously merge devices. If local and iCloud copies conflict, the app asks which copy to keep. Purchase status is separate and can be restored through the App Store from the paywall or Settings.
