Quilting Calculator keeps the raw fabric requirement visible and rounds the purchase amount upward to the selected shopping increment.
A backing result looks unexpected
- Enter the finished quilt width and length in the selected unit system.
- Confirm fabric width after removing unusable selvage if your pattern does so.
- Overage is added to every edge, not once per dimension.
- Compare lengthwise and rotated layouts, including seams and directional-print compatibility.
- Use the pattern's larger requirement when its method or allowance differs.
Binding, borders, and pieces
- Binding uses the quilt perimeter plus the selected extra joining length.
- Strip and piece counts always round upward to whole items.
- Mitered corners, fussy cutting, directional prints, and pattern matching can require extra fabric.
- Advanced tools state the oversized or no-waste method they use; confirm that method against the pattern before cutting.
Sashing and cornerstones
- Enter finished block size, block rows and columns, sashing width, and usable fabric width.
- Outside sashing changes the outer strip count and finished layout size.
- Cornerstones are optional and use the same finished width as the sashing.
- The result rounds strip counts and purchase yardage upward; directional or patterned fabric may require additional allowance.
Projects and saved results
Copying a valid purchase amount saves an immutable Saved snapshot. Reopen creates an editable copy and does not rewrite the saved result. Attaching a result adds it to the selected project and creates a material checklist item.
Projects and saved records can be removed from their own contextual actions; there is no diagnostic or reset-all-data dashboard in Settings. Purchase status is separate and can be restored through the App Store.
Automatic private iCloud recovery is checked during onboarding and confirmed afterward. It does not continuously merge multiple devices. If new offline data conflicts with an older iCloud snapshot, the app asks which copy to keep and offers an export before replacement.
