Home Inventory keeps private property, room, item, evidence, reminder, and export records on the device without requiring an account.
Create the first property
- Open Inventory and choose Add Property.
- Name the property and keep or adjust the suggested rooms.
- Save, then use Quick Add to record an item with a name and room.
- Open the item when you are ready to add evidence or more detail.
Photos, receipts, documents, and OCR
- Use the item detail screen to add a photo, receipt, or document.
- Imported files are copied into protected local app storage.
- Receipt recognition runs on the device and presents suggestions for review.
- Confirm merchant, amount, currency, and recognized text before saving.
- Removing evidence from an item removes the app's local copy, not an external file or export saved elsewhere.
Evidence completeness follows three applicable groups: visual proof, identity details, and ownership or value records. A group can be marked not applicable only with a saved reason; the app does not require every item to have the same receipt, serial number, or photo fields.
Reminders and dates
Notification permission is requested only after enabling a warranty or return reminder. If notifications are disabled in system Settings, the date remains on the item but the device cannot deliver the reminder.
PDF and CSV exports
Exports contain the selected local records and leave protected app storage only after the user chooses a destination. Verify the destination and file before sharing sensitive inventory information.
The evidence ZIP includes readable PDF and CSV reports, a checksum manifest, and the actual selected photos and documents. Keep exported copies you need before uninstalling or erasing the device.
Automatic private iCloud recovery is checked during onboarding and confirmed afterward. It does not continuously merge multiple devices. If new offline data conflicts with an older iCloud snapshot, the app asks which copy to keep and offers a complete evidence export before replacement.
Archive, Trash, and deletion
Archive keeps a record and its evidence but removes it from the active view. Trash remains recoverable until permanent deletion. Permanent deletion removes the item, its reminders, and its local evidence files from the app.
Home Inventory organizes records and does not determine ownership, replacement value, insurance coverage, or claim eligibility.
